At launch time the i-Mate JASJAR is the most advanced Smartphone to date with a range of features that you'd normally only expect to see on laptops. Some of the features are immediately obvious - the large 640x480 pixel display for example rotates around so that you can use the JASJAR like a mini laptop, or swivel it around to use it as a PDA. There's a proper QWERTY keyboard on the JASJAR too, so you can do some serious work on it without having to fiddle around with handwriting recognition.
Underneath though the i-Mate JASJAR is just as clever - this is a 3G phone running the Windows Mobile 5.0 operating system that also comes with WiFi (wireless ethernet) in addition to 2.5G GPRS and Bluetooth. This means that the JASJAR is supremely capable at connecting to the internet and other devices. The JASJAR's inbuilt software gives you great multimedia support through Windows Media Player, plus there are versions of Outlook (for email) and Internet Explorer to enable you to keep in touch, and you can even work with Microsoft Office documents.
On top of this, the JASJAR has a 1.3 megapixel digital camera capable of taking high-quality stills photos and video clips. Luckily the JASJAR also has expandable memory so that you can squeeze all this information into it.
This is essentally the same handset that has been announced by Vodafone as the VPA IV, O2 as the XDA Pro, the Orange SPV M5000 and T-Mobile MDA IV. However, the big advantage that the JASJAR has is that it's available right now, whereas the big networks seem to be taking their time.
Good points: The most feature packed handset we've seen to date.
Bad points: Enormous and heavy - you'll probably want to use a Bluetooth headset to make calls. Expensive.
